Labor Day Events in Northern Michigan

September 2014

The Labor Day weekend is the last big celebration of summer in Northern Michigan and there are so many activities to enjoy. From sidewalk sales to the Mackinac Bridge walk, Up North is the place to be for this holiday weekend.

Bay Harbor
End of season Sidewalk Sales Friday-Sunday, 10am-6pm, Village of Bay Harbor.

Boyne City
Boyne City has a line up of activities beginning with Street Beats on Thursday night with food and dancing, the final 2014 Stroll the Streets on Friday night, and a Car Show on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 8am along with the Farmers Market. Awards will be given at 2pm followed by a parade of cars at 3pm. Drag races take place from 12-5pm on Sunday at the airport. And Sunday, there is a triathlon....lots to do in Boyne City!


The Little Bridge Walk takes place at 1pm, Monday. The Red Fox Regatta sails from Charlevoix to Boyne City on Saturday and back to Charlevoix on Sunday. The Night Garden Club holds a Plant Sale, Saturday, Ferry Beach, 9am-12pm.

Harbor Springs
Street Sales and Celebrations is an all day event Saturday, 9am-5am. The Farmers Market is in action from 9am-1pm. On Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm, the Royal Craft Show takes place at Boyne Highlands featuring fabulous artists and craftspeople and their crafts. This is a new location this year...don't miss it!The American Legions hosts a pancake breakfast Sunday, 8-11am. On Monday, Labor Day, the Labor Day 5k Run/Walk takes place at 8am at the Zorn Park Beach.

Horton Bay
Horton Bay celebrates with a candle light bridge walk at 8pm on Labor Day to cross the Horton Bay bridge. A pig roast takes place at the United Methodist Church 4-7pm.

Mackinac Island
Music is in the air for the Labor Day Jazz weekend at the Grand Hotel. The Horn's Bar Labor Day Regatta sets sail at the Mackinac Island Yacht club on Saturday.

Mackinaw City
The event of the weekend is the Mackinac Bridge Walk on Labor Day. Buses transport walkers from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace where the walk begins. Walkers can begin at 7am.
